happiness # 44

late-night parking lots, scattered around the world. sometimes with small puddles of rain, sometimes with scraps of torn paper belonging to no one. sometimes with just one car, sometimes with three cars. late-night parking lots.

you occupy me so
reach behind my
secured walls;
every time and again
you beat me.

I can only stand desolate
and bare
before you.
This is how you see me.

you reach,
and you

Even when I try to
close eyes and think
these walls
are strong enough even
for you

they're not.

You reach;
you're here.
Close walls.

a bit naive perhaps, but i like it nevertheless

"I do not wish to expiate, but to live. My life is for itself and not for a spectacle. I much prefer that it should be of a lower strain, so it be genuine and equal, than that it should be glittering and unsteady."

"It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance
